33 Immortals 1.0 launched on June 10 on Steam and Epic Games Store, closing out 15 months of Early Access. Thunder Lotus, the Montreal studio behind Spiritfarer, shipped the complete three-realm run with the final boss encounter that wasn't available in any prior build.
Thunder Lotus put 33 Immortals into Early Access in March 2025 and spent 15 months adjusting balance and adding content based on player feedback. Version 1.0 ships the final boss encounter, tunes weapon and enemy balance across all three realms, and adds new character customization options.
The premise: up to 33 players are condemned souls staging a rebellion against God's judgment, with the structure drawn from Dante's Divine Comedy. Players fight through Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso in sequence, and the group narrows as it progresses. Everyone starts in Inferno together. 22 reach Purgatorio. 11 make it to Paradiso. Matchmaking handles all of it instantly, no lobby setup needed.
Paradiso, the third realm, layers puzzle mechanics into the boss fights. The encounters need players to coordinate on specific actions, not just pile on damage. A scattered group that ignores the mechanics will fail. It's the final piece the 1.0 build was waiting on.
The coordination system runs on Co-Strike: hitting the same enemy as another player at the same moment boosts your crit chance and fills the Co-op Power meter. No voice chat needed. Emotes and pings cover the rest. Somehow it works even when everyone's a stranger, which is genuinely clever for a 33-player run.
It lands in a busy window for co-op roguelikes. Tears of Metal's co-op roguelike demo got strong responses during Steam Next Fest, and Dark Scrolls from Devolver launches June 22 as another co-op option. Neither runs at 33 players. The genre's doing well right now, and the best roguelike games of 2026 covers where things stand heading into summer.
The Xbox situation is the one frustrating part. Thunder Lotus posted on June 9 that certification issues blocked the 1.0 update from going live on Xbox. Anyone who pre-downloaded based on Game Pass marketing is sitting with the old build. There's no compensation offered and no specific timeline for when it gets fixed.
Players who finished the Steam demo can carry their save into 1.0.
A full Inferno session in 33 Immortals. All 33 players start here before the group narrows to 22 in Purgatorio and 11 in Paradiso.
Is 33 Immortals on Xbox Game Pass? The Xbox and Game Pass version was delayed past the June 10 launch due to certification issues. Steam and Epic versions launched on schedule. Thunder Lotus says it's coming soon.
How many players is 33 Immortals? Up to 33 players join a single run. The group narrows as it progresses: 33 in Inferno, 22 in Purgatorio, and 11 in Paradiso. You can queue solo or bring up to 4 friends, and matchmaking fills the rest.
Does 33 Immortals require voice chat? No. Thunder Lotus designed coordination through emotes, pings, and the Co-Strike mechanic. You don't need voice chat.
What is the Co-Strike mechanic in 33 Immortals? Co-Strike triggers when two or more players hit the same enemy at the same time. It boosts your critical hit chance and fills the Co-op Power meter.
Is 33 Immortals worth buying? Early reviews are Very Positive on Steam (91% of 321 reviews at launch). The game launched at roughly $7 USD with a 33% introductory discount. Xbox Game Pass players can wait for the delayed console version at no extra cost.
