WoW Forever Dungeons: All 9 New Ones by Level and Faction

Two of the nine sit in the other faction's home territory, one needs a key quest, and three of Blizzard's ranges end a level or more below what the beta guides recommend.

VerdictRun Hall of Thanes on Alliance and Ruins of Lordaeron on Horde; the other faction gets two quests at Hall of Thanes and four at the Ruins. Start the Dalaran key quests before level 28, and treat Blizzard's ranges as the floor, not the target.

WoW Forever dungeons start at level 13 now: Blizzard added nine new five-player instances, from Hall of Thanes under Ironforge to Shaper's Terrace in Un'Goro Crater at 60, and the original dungeons are still there beside them. Six of the new ones are in the Eastern Kingdoms and three in Kalimdor. Before you queue up a group, check three things in the table below: the faction that walks in easily, the level the beta guides recommend, and whether you need a key first. Nobody at GameBrief played the beta, so the beta details here come from Wowhead's dungeon guides and from players who recorded their runs.

All nine new dungeons, by level

Blizzard published these ranges on October 20 and repeated the nine names, split between the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, in its October 29 returning-player post. The last column is the range Wowhead's per-dungeon guides and Thraun Gaming's October 30 video recommend, where it differs.

Excavation Site has the widest gap, two levels at the bottom of the range and three at the top. Wowhead's guide says entering at 24 "is ill-advised, as the last boss is level 31." If you go in at the bottom of Blizzard's range, bring someone higher.

One rule cuts across the whole list. Blizzard's starter guide says characters "run dungeons, and raid only with players on the same Ruleset and faction," so a Horde friend can't fill your Alliance group, and a PvP-ruleset friend can't join your Normal one. Pick your ruleset with your group in mind, as covered in our WoW Forever launch guide.

The two dungeons in the other faction's home territory

Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron are mirror images. Blizzard says Alliance "can reach the entrance easily from within their capital, while Horde groups will need to brave the journey into Alliance territory," and the reverse for the Ruins above the Undercity.

The quest split is what should decide it. Wowhead's Hall of Thanes guide says "All Hall of Thanes quests are Alliance-exclusive with the exception of An Ancient Grudge and Important Heirlooms." It lists four bosses, and Thraun counts the same four. Xaryu, who ran both the Ironforge and Undercity dungeons in the beta, called Hall of Thanes the place "treated as baby's first dungeon." A Horde character crossing Dun Morogh at level 15 gets two quests and an easy instance in return.

Ruins of Lordaeron is the better deal for the visiting side. Wowhead counts "6 quests for Horde players and 4 quests for Alliance players," and adds that "All Alliance quests are located inside the dungeon," so an Alliance group doesn't need to visit Horde quest givers. That answers a worry Asilthar posted on Wowhead in September: "probably wont be worth going if there are no quests for alliance after the mob exp nerf." There are four. The trip is the cost: boat from Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine, a second boat that runs on to Southshore, then north by road and a swim across Lordamere Lake into Tirisfal. Alliance Skyborne skip most of that, because, per Wowhead and Thraun, they have a portal from the Stormwind Mage Tower to Dalaran.

Our call: on a first character, run the one your faction owns and skip the other unless a guildmate is already there. On an Alliance alt that has the boat route figured out, Ruins of Lordaeron is worth the trip for its four quests.

City of Dalaran needs quests before the door opens

Dalaran is the only new dungeon for which Blizzard's October 20 post lists a required attunement questline, and the two factions start in different towns. Blizzard's wording: Alliance "begin the required attunement questline with “An Alarming Request” from Emissary Jacques in Southshore. Horde players begin with “Key to the City” and “Prison Break-In”" from Magus Wordeen Voidglare in Tarren Mill.

Wowhead's Horde walkthrough runs Prison Break In and Key to the City, then Dalaran Patrols, then Blood in the Streets to the Image of Archmage Modera outside the city. The last step, Heart of Disruption, gives the Dalaran Sewer Key. Wowhead adds that "only one person needs to open the gate for other people to enter," so one keyholder in the group is enough. Blizzard says your group enters "through the sewers and make its way into the city proper, choosing among multiple paths and encounters." Wowhead and Thraun both say Horde groups come in through a separate tunnel rather than the Alliance sewer gate.

It's a long dungeon for its level. Thraun counts "eight bosses," and Wowhead's list runs from Atrexis the Grave Knight to the Shade of the Archmage. One is optional: Wowhead calls Lyn the Ignored "a secret boss hiding away in the sewers" and says the unlock starts with a Black Tome from Archmage Arugal's table in Shadowfang Keep. We found that step in Wowhead's guide only, so treat it as unconfirmed until a second guide repeats it.

Start the quest chain in the mid 20s, while Southshore or Tarren Mill is on your questing path anyway. Then you have the key when you hit 28.

Excavation Site, The Drowned City and Krol'dok Stronghold

Excavation Site is the one beta guides know best. Blizzard describes "errant titan constructs and dangerous wildlife" above Whelgar's Excavation in the Wetlands; Thraun's version is "Jurassic Park but with titans and raptors." Wowhead and Thraun list three bosses, Saltspine, Shadetooth and the Relic Guardian, and Wowhead warns that "Shadetooth is a very unforgiving encounter." Alliance get there easily from Menethil Harbor. Wowhead says Horde "have to go through Hillsbrad Foothills and Arathi Highlands on foot to reach Wetlands."

The Drowned City, at 35 to 40, starts with a swim. Blizzard: "Dive below the water to find the entrance, then watch the open-air dungeon change around you as mist and rain build into a full storm before the final confrontation." Wowhead says it "was available to test at BlizzCon 2026," but no confirmed boss list came out of that: Thraun said boss and loot data weren't in the beta, and Realm Gaming TV said the bosses "have not yet been firmly established." The same goes for Krol'dok Stronghold in the Riverglades, where Blizzard's setup is ogre outrunners "kidnapping travelers and ransacking communities." Neither Blizzard's post nor Wowhead's overview names their bosses, so check a launch-week guide before you plan around either one.

Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace

The last three are all in Kalimdor. Alcaz Prison, on Alcaz Island in Dustwallow Marsh, is where Blizzard reports "rumors of high-ranking prisoners", King Varian Wrynn among them, with the Defias Brotherhood and naga "locked in conflict" inside.

Blackmaw Hold is the bigger commitment. Blizzard calls the furbolg city "a substantial max-level adventure with multiple routes and bosses," and Wowhead puts the entrance "behind the Furbolg Gates in North Azshara." The more useful line is in Blizzard's raid post: "Entrances connected to Mount Hyjal, Winterspring, and Blackmaw Hold give raiders multiple paths into Barrow Deeps." Learn the Blackmaw route now and you'll know one way into the first 10-player raid.

Shaper's Terrace, 58 to 60 in northern Un'Goro, asks for prep. Blizzard: "Bring power crystals gathered throughout Un’Goro and use them at consoles within the terrace." Pick crystals up while you quest in the crater so you don't have to farm them later.

The original dungeons are still in

Nothing was removed. A Wowhead commenter, Trexxel, answered the question in September: "Yes all of the original dungeons are still in the game but the loot has been reitemized." Xaryu said of the old dungeons that Blizzard "kind of just left them alone and" added a couple of quests, and that Deadmines "has got another big quest chain" in Forever.

That changes the levelling order more than it looks. Wowhead's level chart, which Thraun walks through, puts The Deadmines at 18 to 23, Wailing Caverns at 15 to 25 and Shadowfang Keep at 22 to 30. At 15 to 20, then, each faction has its home dungeon, Ruins or Hall, plus a classic dungeon in the same level band: Wailing Caverns at 15 to 25 or The Deadmines at 18 to 23. If you can't fill a group for the new one, those are the fallback.

What comes after level 60

On December 9, three raids unlock, and Blizzard has "all raids currently planned to reset each week." Barrow Deeps takes 10 players and has eight bosses. Hyjal Summit takes 20 players and "features 13 bosses." Onyxia's Lair is a 40-player raid, and Blizzard "requires each member of the raid to carry the Drakefire Amulet to enter." Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace are the max-level dungeons you'll run while you wait. For the other MMO that launched this week, see our ArcheAge Chronicles early access breakdown.

How we checked this

On November 3, 2026, we read Blizzard's dungeon post (October 20), raid post (October 20), returning-player post (October 29) and new-player starter guide (October 28). We checked every level range against Wowhead's WoW Forever dungeon overview and its Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, City of Dalaran and Excavation Site guides (updated September 23 to October 27, during the beta), and against the transcripts of three YouTube videos: Thraun Gaming's "ALL 9 NEW Dungeons" (October 30), Realm Gaming TV's dungeon overview (October 15) and Xaryu's beta impressions (September 30). Where Blizzard and the guides disagree, the table gives both. Eneba has no World of Warcraft: Forever key (Blizzard includes Forever with a WoW subscription or Game Time), so this page has no store link. We'll update the Drowned City, Krol'dok and Kalimdor entries once launch-week guides post boss lists.
