Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts Skins: All 20 Unlocks

Three challenges, six skins each, plus two Mastery skins. On Steam, none had been unlocked by more than 1.1% of players when we checked on October 29.

VerdictStart with Dying to Meet You: it needs one early Shrine of Descent, not a lucky page. Save Memento Mori for when Reincarnation drops, and farm Against All Odds through the Hand of Death.

Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts skins come in three sets of six plus two Mastery skins, 20 in all. Each set hangs on one challenge: Dying to Meet You (Soulbound Threshold early), Memento Mori (whatever waits behind its door) and Against All Odds (finish a run holding 10 Hexes). As of October 29, Steam's global stats show every one of the 20 held by about one percent of Risk of Rain 2 players or fewer.

That number has a catch, and we'll get to it. First, the list.

All 20 Hallowed Concepts skins

The wiki's version history names every skin the DLC added. The last column is the share of Steam players who hold the matching achievement, from the game's global stats on October 29.

Now the catch. Steam counts every Risk of Rain 2 owner on Steam, including everyone who hasn't bought the $14.99 expansion that came out on October 8. So 0.3% is a share of all players, not of DLC owners, and these are early days. The useful signal is the spread: Enforcer's Impasse leads the table, probably because Enforcer is unlocked from the start while Acolyte has to be earned. For scale, A Broken Ritual, the Acolyte unlock, sits at 2.5%.

Two survivors miss out. Operator and Drifter, the Alloyed Collective pair, are not on the DLC's skin list at all.

Dying to Meet You: Soulbound Threshold before the 4th Teleporter

Six skins: Commando, Huntress, Acrid, Seeker, CHEF and Enforcer. The official challenge text is "complete Soulbound Threshold before the 4th Teleporter event." The wiki spells out what that means: the Anima Harvester's second phase has to die "while fewer than four Teleporters have been charged in the run."

The hard part is getting in early. The way in is a Shrine of Descent, which the wiki says only spawns when the Teleporter is placed at the start of a stage, in a standard or Eclipse run, before the Soul-binding trial has happened, and only if the team owns enough N'tormat Pages. The page count scales hard with players:

PlayersTotal Pages the team needs
11
24
39
416

The wiki calls that square-of-the-player-count curve "unintentional". Solo, one Page will do. In a four-player lobby you need 16, so co-op groups should expect to see the shrine less often.

Praying arms the trial "in practice" for the Teleporter on the same stage. The Teleporter overcharges to 667% with an extra boss, then a Ritual Portal opens. Inside, a doom timer starts at 210 seconds, each of the four challenges adds 65, and if it hits zero everyone dies outright. Revives don't save you. The route is "available at most once per run", so a botched attempt means a fresh run.

Here is where players disagree about the cutoff. Floboslocos posted that a shrine activated "on normal STAGE 4" still counted: "IT WILL COUNT towards the unlock." Coddlyoko-Prime replied with the opposite result: "I just had a run with Enforcer where I had exactly this situation and I didn't get the skin." Our reading: aim for a shrine on stage 2 or 3, where the wiki rule clearly holds, and treat a stage 4 shrine as a coin flip rather than a reason to quit the run.

Memento Mori: what lies beyond the door

Six skins: Bandit, Engineer, Artificer, REX, Captain and Acolyte. The challenge says "defeat what lies beyond the door of Soulbound Threshold." Behind that door is Terminal Lucidity, a Hidden Realm built around a four-phase fight against the Echo of Providence.

The door is the problem. The wiki says "Every route into it requires casting the Reincarnation" Page of the N'tormat. The main route: finish the ritual, beat both Harvester phases, then cast Reincarnation in the sacrifice zone at the altar to open the Veil of Memory. You need that one Page, and players say there is no reliable way to get it. It's a common complaint in the threads we read. Reddit user This_Antelope wrote: "I just had an Acolyte run that took two and a half HOURS to get Reincarnation."

So don't build a run around it. When you head for Soulbound Threshold on one of the six Memento Mori survivors, and Reincarnation happens to be in your bag, the door is right there. Note that the two sets don't share a survivor, so one run can't tick both. Acolyte is a good pick here: she gets Vessel from Memento Mori and Twilight from Mastery, and her build guide covers the items that carry her through a four-phase boss.

Against All Odds: finish a run with 10 Hexes

Six skins: MUL-T, Mercenary, Loader, Railgunner, Void Fiend and False Son. You need to "complete a run while holding 10 Hexes", and the wiki adds that "Multiple copies of the same Hex each count toward the total." There are 14 Hexes, and Gearbox's own dev diary says they come "with ZERO upsides". The steady source is the Hallowed Shrine (see the interactables guide), which appears after a Teleporter event once a player holds a Hex or the team owns an N'tormat Page.

The rules that matter for hoarding, from the wiki's Hallowed Shrine page:

  • Hand of Death drops 3 Hexes per player, random from all 14. Take this hand when you're collecting.
  • Hand of Life drains your Hexes up to 7 at a time, and "The amount cannot be chosen." Touch it by mistake and your stack is gone.
  • Pick them up fast. "whenever a Teleporter starts charging, every Hex lying on the ground is destroyed."
  • Soulbound Threshold helps. Each player is given 3 Hexes during the Harvester's second phase, and an improved shrine follows.

That last point is the shortcut players use. Vociva on Reddit: "you only have to bring 4 to the fight, and then anima harvester gives you 3 more during it and then creates a shrine you can get 3 more from afterwards." Four plus three plus three is ten.

Which Hexes to keep? Some are rough on certain survivors, and two of them work differently from their in-game text. Hex of Pain says 30% less max health per stack, but the wiki says it divides max health by 1.3 (+0.3 per stack): a 23.1% cut at one stack, 37.5% at two and 60% at five. Hex of Rain says +25% difficulty, but it makes difficulty climb 25% faster over time per stack, with less per stack in multiplayer (about 14.9% each with two players), so ten of those is a different game. Player i-tann's pick: "Hex of patience and strife are the easiest." Patience hurts only outside the Teleporter's radius (1% of max health, ramping every 10 seconds), and Strife adds Mountain Shrine bosses without the rewards. Mimicry summons a Mimic about every 54.5 seconds at one stack (the in-game text says 60), and faster with more stacks; players on Reddit report it does little with the Artifact of Sacrifice on, since normal chests don't spawn.

How you "complete a run" is the other lever. Several players say obliterating counts. Treefrogger999: "You can obliterate yourself if you dont want to fight bosses with hexes." We haven't confirmed that against the game's code, so if you'd rather be safe, plan to beat the final boss.

Mastery: Palisade and Twilight

Every survivor has one Mastery skin, unlocked by "completing a run or obliterating on Monsoon difficulty," per the wiki. The DLC's two survivors bring two new ones: Palisade for Enforcer (0.9% on Steam) and Twilight for Acolyte (0.7%). Our Eclipse guide covers the difficulty ladder if you want to go further. For loadouts, see the Enforcer build.

What players are saying

The skins themselves get little criticism. The routes to them get plenty. Tapejarapim's thread title says it plainly: "Don't like the 10 hex skin achievements." The post explains why: "I feel like I'm limited to half the roster of hexes to even take with me to the next stage since I need 10." (thread)

Pedalfire25 put the other two challenges in one sentence, "Trying to get the new skins makes me want to die!", and asked Gearbox for a "Guaranteed shrine spawn on stage 3" plus a set drop source for the Reincarnation page (thread). Gearbox's October 14 hotfix fixed bugs that stopped players finishing the realm. In the team's words, "we wanted to make sure everyone could complete Soulbound Threshold as quickly as we could." Neither request is in the patch notes so far.

Our take

Dying to Meet You is the set to start with. It asks for one early shrine and one good ritual, and you can farm it on the six survivors in the order you like playing them. Against All Odds is grindy but predictable once you know the Hand of Death trick and the Harvester's free Hexes. Memento Mori is the one that will take longest, because it waits on one specific Page, and nothing in the patch notes changes that yet.

If you only want a single new look, Enforcer's Impasse is the easy pick. He's unlocked by default, it's the same Soulbound Threshold run, and it has the highest unlock rate of the 20 on Steam. The best survivors list can help you pick a carry for the harder sets.

How we checked this

We haven't unlocked these skins ourselves. On October 26, 2026 we read the Risk of Rain 2 Wiki's Survivor Skins page (version history and the three Hallowed Concepts sections), then its Shrine of Descent, Soulbound Threshold, Terminal Lucidity and Hallowed Shrine pages for the rules quoted above. On October 29 we read the wiki's Hex of Pain, Hex of Rain and Hex of Mimicry pages, and refreshed the unlock percentages from Steam's global achievement stats for the game (205 achievements), matching each skin challenge to its achievement. We checked the October 8 launch notes and the October 14 hotfix on Steam, and read the Reddit threads linked here. Where players and the wiki disagree, as on the stage 4 cutoff, we say so instead of picking a side.
