Black Jacket Achievements: All 42, Ranked by Rarity

Updated 2026-10-22: Correction: an earlier version listed the most common achievement as "Sleeve Size 1" (its real name is Sleeved 21), called the difficulty achievements "Journey" clears, and said only levels 2, 3, 7 and 8 had one. Black Jacket's 21 tiers are difficulty levels, a journey is one run, and every level from 2 to 10 has its own achievement. Names and rates now come straight from Steam, and the unlock rewards from the wiki's Challenges page.

Black Jacket achievements at a glance

Steam lists 42: ten for difficulty clears, five for the realm bosses, four suit unlocks, four face card stories and nineteen in-run challenges. Two are hidden (Escape and Memories). Rates below are Steam's global percentages, read on October 22, 2026.

What the achievements unlock

This is the part most lists skip. The wiki's Challenges page shows what each in-game challenge gives you, and almost every achievement above lines up with one:

• Artifacts with the same name. Safety Pin, Vines, Magnifying Glass, Coin String, Thin Air, Lost Finger, Flaming Souls, Tattered Table, Train Set, Brute's Grasp, Zen, Sharpened Tool, Dagger, Shackles, Intense Flames, Propagation, the four story achievements and all nine difficulty clears from 2 to 10 each reward the artifact they're named after.
• Suits. Flames, Teeth, Greed and Tumors open up through the four suit achievements. Hearts, Diamonds, Spades and Clubs are available from the start.
• Face card trios. The Vice, The Shame and The Family trios unlock at the Morgan, Ivel and Better relationship levels. The Royals are there from the start.
• Permanent upgrades. Sleeved 21 raises your sleeve size by 1, Deep Sleeve raises your stash size by 1, and beating three realm bosses gives you your own Soul Coin.

That's why we'd never call the cheap challenge achievements filler. Each one makes the next journey a little easier.

The order we'd chase them

First runs: let the common ones come to you. Sleeved 21, Tattered Table, Lost Finger and Coin String all fall out of normal play for most people; more than half of Steam players own them. Sleeved 21 is the one to get on purpose, since the extra sleeve slot helps every run after it.

Next: the suit unlocks. Burning 15 cards, awakening 20 and discovering 70 add up across runs. Winning 50 encounters takes longest. Take Burn Card and Awaken Card events when they come up and the first two arrive quickly.

Then: the boss relationships. Each repeat win against Morgan, Ivel and Better pushes their relationship level up and unlocks a face card trio. Their story achievements (The Vice, The Shame, The Family) come from playing those trios and are rarer than the relationship ones.

Plan a run for these: Brute's Grasp (30 or more cards) and Zen (no blank cards) ask for opposite decks, so don't try both at once. Magnifying Glass wants a burn-heavy journey with 11 burns.

Last: Sharpened Tool, Propagation and Ascension. Sharpened Tool is the trap. Since patch 1.0.6, artifacts that add cards to your deck count toward the cards-added stat, so "to complete a certain challenge, these artifacts must be avoided". Propagation is just volume: 40 discovered artifacts. Ascension needs a win against the final boss on difficulty 21, the full stack of modifiers from our difficulty levels guide.

Sharpened Tool is the one completionists talk about. "Just got sharpened tool so thats my last specific condition achievement, now its time to work on the difficulties achievements," duby149 posted on r/BlackJacket in June.

The difficulty achievements, in one line each

Every clear from difficulty 2 to 10 is its own achievement, and the share of players drops at each step: four in ten have Compulsive Dare, fewer than one in ten have Haze. Levels 11 to 20 have no achievement. Ascension, the difficulty 21 final boss win, is the rarest in the game. Patch 1.0.7 also tied the story's closing cutscene to that same fight, so the last achievement and the ending arrive together. Mi'pu'mi's live-action trailer is the mood you're chasing:
