The Revelations Update is the last structural test before the story gets its ending in version 1.0.
The biggest change is to the Fallen Preyers system. The developers themselves called it "a gameplay mechanic with a thin lore wrapper" before 3.0. In this update it becomes a central story element. You can now collect 21 mask shards to build a full Preyer roster. Each one has a backstory revealed through two channels: field encounters and Vatican correspondence found during play. A new judgment system lets you banish a Preyer, and the consequences are real gameplay outcomes, not a cosmetic toggle.
That last point is worth unpacking. In previous versions, Fallen Preyers were primarily a passive buff system. The lore existed but wasn't integrated with the mechanical choices players made about which Preyers to use. The 3.0 overhaul ties the story directly to the banish decision: you're making a choice with narrative and gameplay weight attached, not just rotating buff options. This is the kind of late-EA system integration that either lands as a genuine revelation or feels bolted on. The dev diary framing, and the name they chose for the update, suggests The Astronauts are confident it's the former.
The Garden is a section of the Hermitorium that's been locked since launch. In 0.9 it opens as a space to grow the resources used to craft incenses. Yield improves based on how much care you invest. The Astronauts also added benches, a quality-of-life touch that gives the base a different feel between missions.
World Corruption 2.0 and a new Vault ship with the update. World Corruption was one of the more divisive systems in the current build: it escalates difficulty in response to player power, which some players find satisfying and others find punishing as gear scales. The 2.0 version wasn't detailed beyond confirmation it's in the patch. Localization arrives too, and Modzelewski was direct about the scope: it's "absolutely not tiny at all." The diary also showed the first actual in-game look at The Witch, a character the story has been building toward since the first Early Access build.
One thing isn't settled: the Raygun demonic weapon appeared as a teaser in the dev diary but was described as still in development. It's not confirmed for 0.9 and might land in a later update instead.
