Tales of Seikyu Romance Guide: All 18 Romance Options

Updated 2026-10-20: No romance patch has landed since 1.1.35 (August 18). The September 28 announcement of the co-op spin-off Seikyu Let's Go says Tales of Seikyu "isn't going anywhere"; Steam reviews rechecked, still Very Positive.

How many romance candidates are there?

Eighteen. The developer's 1.0 launch post says "Choose from 18 romanceable villagers", and the April 30 announcement said the roster "will be expanding from 15 to 18" at 1.0, with "two new bachelors and one new bachelorette". The 1.0 roadmap named them: Alin, Uwabami and Yuki-onna. The Tales of Seikyu wiki lists the same 18, nine bachelors and nine bachelorettes. At the Early Access launch in May 2025 you could unlock heart events with six villagers.

Siliconera's 1.0 story says there are "20 romance options". We went with the developer's own number, since neither Siliconera nor anyone else we found names two extra candidates.

What about Anji? Patch notes mention "Anji's ninth Heart Event" (1.1.35), and Cozy Gaming Panda's guide lists Anji as a tanuki priestess snooping around the Fox Ruins. But Anji's birthday (Autumn 19), yokai type and loved gifts are identical to Anna's on that same page, and the wiki has no Anji candidate. We read Anji as a name tied to Anna's story, not a separate route.

All 18 candidates: yokai, birthday and loved gifts

Loved gifts are the wiki's "Favorite" tier on each character page, read on October 13, 2026. Long lists are summarized, so "flowers" means every flower the wiki lists for that person.

Bachelors

Bachelorettes

A few notes the table can't show. Yohji and Liliana share Winter 9 because they're twins. Hephaestus is Seikyu's blacksmith at Hephaestus's Forge, Anna serves at the Casino, Shuten runs the Tavern and Mika owns the Onsen, so you'll pass their workplaces often. Uwabami's list is enormous: his wiki page shows close to 300 favorite items, from weapons to stoves and storage cabinets, so once you craft furniture he's easy to please.

Gifts that cover several candidates

These overlaps come straight from the wiki's Favorite lists:

• Matcha: Anna, Musashi and Sasaki.
• Strong Tea: Anna and Shuten.
• Rose: Kincho, Liliana, Yoni and Yui. Other flowers cover Kincho, Liliana and Yoni.
• Three-Color Dango: Kincho, Liliana and Mika.
• Bobo Pearl: Miss Ama and Yuki-onna.
• Strawberry Cake and "Ninja Bubble" (Strawberry): Mika and Yui.
• Soy Sauce Dango: Mika and Nyotengu.
• Sake: Nyotengu and Shuten.
• Elva's Beef Curry, Red-Braised Chicken and Lun's Beef Stew: Hephaestus and Leon.
• Salmon and Cuttlefish: Musashi and Miss Ama. Eel, King Crab and Lobster cover Torleone and Miss Ama.

The old version of this guide said White Crystal and "any strong tea" covered four candidates each. The wiki doesn't list White Crystal as a favorite for anyone in the roster, and Strong Tea is only on Anna's and Shuten's lists. Last Word on Gaming's June 12 gift list does name White Crystal for several people, so treat it as a launch-week list that has since been revised.

Birthdays matter too. Last Word on Gaming notes that a liked gift, "especially on a birthday", raises friendship faster than usual. We haven't found an official multiplier, so we won't quote one.

Heart events, dates and sleepovers

The 1.0 launch post promises you can "reach up to level 10 heart events with all of our villagers, whether you choose a romance or friendship route". If romance isn't for you, each villager's story still plays out through what the developer calls "a meaningful friendship route".

Dates came in two steps. The September 2025 Bloom & Bond update added hot spring dates, which you can offer "once you reach five hearts" with a villager. February's Kindred Spirits update added Shuten's Tavern, with "unique dates and dialogue options for all of our romanceable villagers". The developer's own advice is not to "accidentally schedule two dates at the same time". As your relationship grows you can also hug, kiss and invite your partner over for a sleepover.

Kindred Spirits described committed relationships as "exclusive relationships". So pick one person at a time. If you change your mind later, the shrine section below covers how to undo it.

Marriage: the ring and the move-in

Marriage arrived with 1.0. Siliconera reported that marriage is "an option after getting up to the tenth heart event". The 1.0 roadmap says the system includes "crafting a special ring for your loved one, proposing, having the most beautiful ceremony", and then living together at the farmhouse. One 60-hour reviewer adds that you also have to "craft a large bed and stuff for your spouse to get married".

Your spouse gets their own room in the farmhouse. Players found that confusing, so the Shrine of Love update added the marital bed: you can now spend the night together "whenever you want by interacting with the marital bed". The separate room is still there.

The Inari Shrine: break-ups, divorce and second chances

The Shrine of Love update went live on July 16, 2026 as version 1.1.5. Its patch notes say players "can now interact with the shrine to manage their relationships with NPCs, including breaking up, getting divorced, and reopening romance routes with NPCs they previously rejected". The announcement adds: "Just make sure you've got the right offerings to hand."

Neither post names the offerings or a price. If a community guide gives you an exact list, check it against the shrine yourself before you trust it.

What it changes in practice: turning someone down in a heart event isn't a permanent lockout anymore, and a Year 1 marriage doesn't stop you from pursuing someone else in Year 2. You do have to end the current relationship first.

The most recent numbered patch, 1.1.35 on August 18, 2026, fixed the spouse sleep scene after marrying Anna and a conflict when Sasaki's Heart Event 3 fired during Kon's party. Nothing romance-related has shipped since. On September 28 the team announced Seikyu Let's Go, a separate 1-4 player co-op road trip set in the same world, and promised that Tales of Seikyu "isn't going anywhere" and that they're "still working on things behind the scenes."

Step-by-Step

1. Pick a candidate your farm already supports. Flowers cover Liliana and Yoni from your first Spring. Matcha covers Anna, Musashi and Sasaki. If you're crafting furniture anyway, Uwabami and Yohji both have long furniture lists.

2. Gift on a routine and note the birthday. Use the tables above, and save your best loved gift for their birthday.

3. Raise hearts and take them on dates. Hot spring dates open at five hearts, and Shuten's Tavern works as a second date spot. Don't book two dates at once.

4. Save before a confession scene. Heart events run up to level 10. Turning someone down can be reversed later, but a manual save is still the cheapest safety net.

5. Craft the ring and propose after heart event 10. Then make room at home; your spouse moves into the farmhouse.

6. Use the Inari Shrine if plans change. Bring offerings, break up or divorce, and reopen a route you rejected.

What players say about the romance

Reviews are warm but specific. A 100-hour player says the romance "goes stale very fast once you are in a relationship with someone, as they just repeat the same dialogue on the dates and when you have the sleepovers." A 61-hour reviewer, who bought the game for Uwabami, found "the newer characters not even having their own heart events before confessing" a letdown. And a player who finished the story put it plainly: "You can only have two dates options, and it's the same exact thing if you repeat one."

Overall the game sits at Very Positive on Steam, 2,256 of 2,678 reviews as of October 20, 2026. Our Tales of Seikyu review covers the rest of the game.

Our take

We'd start with Liliana, Yoni or Anna. Their loved gifts come from a basic farm and a tea setup, and you'll pass their homes and workplaces every day. Uwabami is the sleeper pick: his favorite list is so long that almost anything off your crafting bench works. We'd hold off on Torleone until fishing pays for Lobster and King Crab. If you're buying the game for one of the 1.0 additions, know that at least one reviewer felt the newer characters got thinner arcs. With the Inari Shrine in the game, there's no reason to agonize over the first pick.

Where can you go on dates in Tales of Seikyu? The hot spring, once you reach five hearts with a villager, and Shuten's Tavern, added in the Kindred Spirits update. The developer warns against scheduling two dates at the same time.

Can you romance more than one villager at a time? The developer describes committed relationships as exclusive. To switch partners, break up or divorce at the Inari Shrine first.
