The Warhammer Survivors release date is November 10, 2026, six days from now, and the price is $7.99. Auroch Digital, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, is making it with Vampire Survivors developer poncle, and it lands the same day on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, both Switch consoles and mobile. PC players don't need to pre-order: Steam gives a launch-week discount instead.

At $7.99 it costs less than five of the seven picks on our under-$15 Steam list; only All Hail the Orb and Pratfall come in cheaper or level. The PlayStation Store currently shows $7.19 for PlayStation Plus members, a 10% PlayStation Plus discount that ends at 10:00 AM UTC on launch day. Xbox has the same $7.19 for everyone: when we checked on October 29, the Xbox Store had the pre-order at 10% off, "ends in 11 days", and listed Warhammer Survivors as coming to Game Pass Ultimate and the PC-only Game Pass tier. Steam hasn't published an unlock time. The Steam store page lists Windows only, with no Mac or Linux build, and the Verified rating covers the Deck.

What's in it

The Steam page promises "Over 40 iconic playable characters" from Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, an arsenal of "75+ weapons", multiple modes and stages, and Extremis Bosses such as Ghazghkull Thraka and Vizzik Skour. Boltgun's Malum Caedo is on the roster, as are Commissar Sebastian Yarrick and Stormcast Eternal Neave Blacktalon. One of the weapons is a pot of Nuln Oil, a real Warhammer paint.

Gold you collect carries forward to power up later runs, as in Vampire Survivors, and upgrades maxed in one universe have "a slight impact on the other universe", per the Next Fest post. Auroch's October 21 Feature Focus adds a Keyword system: every character, weapon and some items carry keywords, which is how the mixed squads in the Skulls trailer fight together.

The demo, and why progress won't carry over

A new Steam demo went live on October 6, and Auroch took it into October's Steam Next Fest. It adds two champions, the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya, alongside Malum Caedo, Trooper Kozlowski, Neave Blacktalon and Ulgromthier. Auroch says the first demo was "played by over 190,000" people.

Two things to know before you sink hours into it. Progress from the earlier demo doesn't carry over, and Auroch is explicit that demo progress won't "transfer to the full game release." Auroch hasn't said when the demo comes down; our explainer on whether Next Fest demos expire covers what Valve's rules say. Our October Next Fest roundup covers the rest of that event.

Standalone game or Vampire Survivors DLC?

Some Vampire Survivors fans asked whether this should have been DLC instead. In an r/VampireSurvivors thread on October 7, the top reply backed the standalone game: "make it standalone with its own mechanics and art direction is the way imo". poncle's own expansions keep coming; Legacy of the Bloodmoon added 12 characters in August, and its Vampire Crawlers spin-off went in a different direction entirely.

Games Workshop's 97-second trailer opens on painted character art, then cuts to pixel-art hordes on metal floors and red desert ground, with red dice bouncing across the screen. It closes on "Launches 10th November 2026" and the platform card above.

Our take

$7.99 is the right price for a survivors-like on day one, and the Steam discount means there's no reason to pre-order on PC. The question is depth, and the 40-plus characters, two universes and gold carried between runs suggest Auroch knows that's what the genre lives on. If you want a cheap roguelite now, our best roguelike games of 2026 and best indie games under $20 lists are the place to look; the indie roguelites pick leans on run-based games like this one.

How we checked this

We haven't played the full game. On October 26, 2026 we read Auroch Digital's Steam announcements for the release date and price (October 6), the Steam Deck Verified rating (October 16), the demo and Next Fest (October 19) and the Keyword system (October 21). Platform, character, weapon and PC requirement details come from the Steam store page via Steam's own store API. The PS5 unlock time and PlayStation Plus price come from the PlayStation Store listing; the Xbox pre-order price and Game Pass listing come from the Xbox Store page, read on October 29. We stepped through Games Workshop's official trailer for the end card and the header image. We'll check the Steam unlock time again on launch day.
