Reviewing
Romestead
The Romestead roadmap is the question every new settler asks once they clear the Volcanic biome and hit the end of the current content. Beartwigs has been clear about the destination even if it has not put dates on the journey: Romestead is heading from four biomes to six, and the two new ones are already named.
Romestead launched into Early Access on May 25, 2026 from developer Beartwigs (published by Three Friends) with four biomes (Plains, Forest, Desert, Volcanic), seven Roman gods, five bosses, day/night undead raids, and 1-8 player co-op. That is the foundation. The roadmap builds on it.
The headline is the biome count. Beartwigs has confirmed six biomes for the full release, and the two additions are the Swamp and the Ruined City. That matters more than it sounds, because every biome in Romestead is a full progression step: a new ore, a new armor set, building interactions, and at least one boss. Two new biomes means two new gear tiers and almost certainly new boss fights stacked on top of the current five. Our Romestead biome guide covers how the existing four chain together, which is the template the new ones will follow.
Beyond biomes, the studio has pointed to a familiar Early Access checklist: more bosses, additional progression tiers, deeper world and decoration content, performance work, balancing, and controller plus accessibility polish.
Romestead has been one of the breakout indie settlement builders of mid-2026, and Early Access games keep players by showing a credible path forward. Naming the Swamp and Ruined City specifically (rather than vague "more content") is the kind of commitment that keeps a settlement-builder community invested between patches. The sixth boss already sitting in the data as "Robot" is a hint the studio is building ahead of what is live. For the current boss lineup those additions will join, see our Romestead bosses guide.
Here is the honest part: no dates. Beartwigs has committed to the content (six biomes and the supporting systems) but has not published a dated schedule or a 1.0 window. Anyone quoting a specific full-release date is guessing. The realistic read is that the Swamp and Ruined City arrive as the major post-launch content drops, with smaller balance and performance patches in between. For everything playable right now, the Romestead complete guide is the full reference.
What is on the Romestead roadmap? Six biomes total (up from four), with Swamp and Ruined City next, plus more bosses, progression tiers, world and decoration content, performance, balancing, and accessibility work.
What new biomes are coming? The Swamp and the Ruined City, joining Plains, Forest, Desert, and Volcanic.
When does Romestead hit 1.0? No date confirmed. Beartwigs committed to content goals, not a timeline.
Will there be more bosses? Yes, including a sixth boss ("Robot") referenced in the data but not yet playable, plus likely bosses for the two new biomes.
Who makes Romestead? Beartwigs (developer), Three Friends (publisher). It hit Early Access on May 25, 2026.
